The Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia (the Courts) Sydney building was closed on Tuesday 17 March 2020 as a precautionary measure following information that a person diagnosed with COVID-19 had been in the building last week.
The person appeared in the Court building (known as Lionel Bowen Building) in Goulburn Street on level 5 on 10 March and on level 6 on 12 March 2020.
NSW Health has advised that the Lionel Bowen Building is cleared for re-opening.
The Lionel Bowen Building has been thoroughly cleaned and will reopen on Wednesday 18 March 2020.
The Courts have however, responded to the evolving impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and have made immediate and significant changes to the Courts' operations. The aim of the new arrangements is to ensure that all urgent and priority matters are able to be dealt with safely by the Courts, whilst at the same time, ensuring appropriate social distancing is adhered to. More information on the measures is available from Family Court of Australia website and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia website.
NSW Health advised that as a precaution, people who were present in the building on 10 or 12 March, should monitor for symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath that may develop in the 14 days following last possible exposure (26 March 2020). If these symptoms develop, people should contact their GP.
